My mom is calling every day asking why I don’t want to visit her anymore
Please help. My mother is in a long term care centre, in London, Ontario. It has been 3 months since I have seen her. I used to visit her every day before Covid-19.
These isolation measures and bans on family visiting is cruel. My mother’s dementia and anxiety has worsened so badly we have had to increase her medication. She does not know what is going on, why she can’t leave, and why I cannot come and see her.
She is calling many times a day asking why I don’t want to visit her anymore. She said “We used to be so close. What happened? “ My mom doesn’t understand what is going on and it’s cruel. It is as hard on me as it is on her.
I am willing to do anything. Take a test, wear a mask and shield, purchase PPEs, whatever needs to be done. This needs to change. It is heart wrenching. No one should have to be separated from their loved ones the way we have been. My mental health has declined as well. I am constantly calling the nurses. This is wrong. Please, please help.
