Bud Smith, Q.C. is a Kamloops lawyer and businessman with interests including engineering, construction and travel. He served in the B.C. provincial cabinet as Attorney General, Minister of Regional Economic Development and was elected MLA for Kamloops from 1986 to 1991. Mr. Smith has served on a number of boards including Canada Post, BC Development Corporation, Prince Rupert Port Authority, the Royal British Columbia Museum, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, and Ridley Terminals Inc. He graduated from the Universities of Victoria and British Columbia, and has been a lawyer for 44 years. He also served as chief political advisor to B.C. Premier Bill Bennett in the 1980s and was actively involved with the Social Credit party. Smith has served as chancellor of Diocese of Cariboo, the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, and trustee of the Western Canada Theatre Company.
