Tom Bateman is Professor of Political Science at St Thomas University in Fredericton, NB, where he and his family have lived since 2003. His teaching and research interests are in Canadian government and politics, comparative constitutionalism, the law and politics of the Canadian Charter of Rights and freedoms, and religion and politics. He is co-author of a popular text, The Canadian Regime: An Introduction to Parliamentary Government in Canada, and is co-editor of two collections of leading Supreme Court of Canada decisions. He has published widely on the Charter and Canadian constitutionalism. He has been active in several organizations including the Institute for Public Administration of Canada, Christian Legal Fellowship, and NB Right to Life. He is currently a member of the strategic advisory committee of the Office of Auditor General of New Brunswick.
