Public health officials are in charge and normal life is forbidden

Canadians are entering the thirteenth month of government restrictions that are managing and dictating every aspect of our lives. It is no longer innocent until proven guilty, it is sick until proven healthy.

Government orders have forced stores deemed non-essential to close, shut down restaurants and gyms for months, closed schools and universities for in-person learning, thrown a pastor in jail for holding church services, and nearly banned in-person worship. Church in the new Canada is illegal.

Health orders now forbid visitors to your own private home. Family dinners on important holidays have been outlawed. Young children, who have a greater chance of being hit by lightning than of dying of COVID, are being forced to wear a mask all day just to attend school, even outside at recess and during gym class. A generation of children are now being taught that singing and laughing can spread deadly germs and kill Grandma and Grandpa.

In many provinces, it is forbidden to spend time with friends, to work out at the gym, to be with an aging, sick parent, to go out for dinner, to play hockey on an outdoor rink, to leave the house after 8 p.m., or to leave the house at all unless it is considered essential by the government – to buy food, pick up prescriptions, buy marijuana or go to work.

Hugs, swimming, skating, barbecues with the neighbours, going to movies, playing hockey and basketball, having birthday parties, even sitting on an empty park bench, have resulted in fines of thousands of dollars under COVID public health orders.

All of these restrictions and quarantines of healthy people, we are told by politicians and public health officials, are to protect our “health and safety.” The government’s own data shows that their efforts are to stop a virus that predominantly kills sick and elderly people, 80% or more of whom are in nursing homes, more than 80% of whom are over 80 years old.

Never before have millions of Canadians who are young and healthy been forced to give up all of their social interactions with other human beings for months at a time, to save the life of people with three or more serious health conditions like cancer, heart disease and emphysema.

Public health officials have so far, produced no credible evidence that locking down millions of people for months on end and wiping out hundreds of thousands of small and medium sized businesses has actually saved lives.

Since the founding of our country in 1867, no government has prevented Canadians from freely socializing and hugging one another, earning a living, celebrating Christmas and Easter with family, and playing sports.

No government in Canadian history has recklessly shut down restaurants, tourism, hotels and entertainment, forcing millions of families into unemployment, poverty, increased mental illness, skyrocketing drug overdoses and increased suicide attempts.

Not since the Second World War has the federal government stopped Canadians from freely entering and leaving their own country, or had provinces create invisible borders. Never before has holding church services in this country been illegal.

Today, politics and fear are the driving force continuing the most extreme and severe restrictions on freedoms and individual liberties in Canadian history. The question is, are all these based on science, and, can we trust the politicians in this country to ever let things return to normal? For the first time in history, Canadians are being conditioned to believe that living under a medical dictatorship is normal, that freedom is selfish and dangerous.
