Central Bank Digital Currency?
Learn how it threatens your privacy, autonomy, security, and access
Released: March 2025
This report provides a comprehensive analysis of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and their impact on Canadians’ rights and freedoms, including privacy, security, and autonomy. It explains the technical aspects of CBDCs and provides lessons from countries with negative outcomes from CBDCs, including Nigeria and the Caribbeans.
The report also addresses the drawbacks of a largely cashless society, as seen in Australia, Sweden, Finland, and Norway. It challenges the inevitable adoption of a Canadian CBDC and emphasizes that while CBDC promises enhanced security and profitability, these claims are misleading and overlook the significant risk: a poorly designed Canadian CBDC could seriously restrict freedom.
